Carrie's TOUCH 2.0

Survive and Thrive is the first app developed by Black, Indigenous Women of Color, tailored for those navigating breast cancer. Though cancer does not discriminate based on color, the experience of surviving as a Black woman presents unique challenges such as inadequate support, lack of resources, and limited awareness about breast cancer and its treatments.

The aim of Survive and Thrive is simple: to support and humanize the experiences of Black, Indigenous Women of Color facing breast cancer.

Survive and Thrive represents the future of breast cancer advocacy by:

• Offering tangible support and resources for Black, Indigenous Women of Color
• Enhancing communication between patients and healthcare providers to consider the whole individual beyond their diagnosis
• Promoting self-care practices and shifting away from "toxic strength" culture
• Providing vital resources, information, and connections for marginalized communities disproportionately affected by breast cancer

• An "I WAS JUST DIAGNOSED" page to guide new survivors
• Meditations, affirmations, journals, and reminders tailored for breast cancer survivors
• Access to support groups, educational videos, financial assistance, oncologists specializing in care for People of Color, as well as free or low-cost therapy options

This app is provided free of charge by Carrie’s TOUCH.

Background:

Carrie’s TOUCH, a non-profit founded by two Black women - one a breast cancer survivor - recognized the lack of services for women who shared their background. Survive and Thrive was created to extend this support to a broader audience, offering immediate access to resources, guidance, and solutions for survivors.
